You are viewing an Antique Mid 19th Century English Victorian set of 3 Fireplace Tool Set made from brass, comprising a poker, a shaped shovel, and a pair of tongs. Each of the long handles has classic barley twist stems and elegant solid brass finial capped handle, these are a tall set for a medium or large fireplace, the entire set has a great patina that is only achieved with age. Hardy Brass and Bronze is suitable for both indoors and outside, it will not rust away quickly like iron.

There are 3 main types of tools commonly used to tend an indoor fireplace fire or yule log: the tongs, the spade, and the poker itself. Iron is the most popular metal from which most fire tools are wrought. Brass is a more expensive alternative for a home fireplace tool-set. A fireplace poker or fire iron is a rigid rod used to poke and adjust coal or wood burning in a fireplace or to stir up a fire.

All 3 pieces are showing normal scuff marks from use, and each has a great natural patina that is only achieved with age.
