ANTIQUE FEDERAL BRASS FIREPLACE TOOL SET W/ MARBLE BASE HOLDER EARLY 1800'S? The lot come as you see pictured in the listing and noted above. I know little about andirons and fireplace tools but I just picked up a few pieces from a local catalog estate sale and tried to do a little homework to better educate myself on them. I believe this is what they call American Federal period brass topped tongs, shovel and poker. The holder is all brass with a heavy marble base. Someone added felt on the bottom many years ago. They all have the same brass finial toppers except the thongs are slightly different.

The entire set is 32" tall and the tools are around 28.5" to almost 30 tall. Possible made in Boston or Philadelphia in the early to mid 1800's!! The handles that all match appear to be solid/heavy brass and screw onto the tops of the stand, poker and shovel.

I took a picture of having the top removed from the stand. The condition is very good for their age.

These these were all hand made back in the day so please review the pictures to see it's true condition and how it was made and designed. No makers names, hallmarks or codes were found. My goal is your satisfaction.
