This is an antique fireplace or hearth set consisting of a stand, poker, tongs and shovel. It is made by Cahill and has the Cahill hallmark in a diamond shape on the bottom of the stand. Cahill operated a foundry in Chatanooga Tennessee sometime between 1860 and 1910. These were probably made sometime around 1900 in the Arts and Crafts period. They are iron with a hand hammered bronze finish.
The set weighs about 13 pounds. The stand measures 29 inches high from base to top decorative knob.
The poker measures 25 1/2 inches. The shovel measures 26 1/2 inches and the tongs measure 25 1/2 inches. The base measures 10 inches x 6 1/2 inches x 1 inch. Throughout the set is a hand hammered bronze finish design. Wonderful arts and crafts design to the handles and stand.
