William Bill Robertson Dollhouse Miniature Fireplace Set Andirons, Fender, Tools

ITEM- Rare 1994 IGMA Fellow William "Bill" Robertson Dollhouse Miniature Fireplace Set: Andirons, Fender, Tongs, Tools. DESCRIPTION- Everything by Bill Robertson is rare & this set was made in 1994, 25 years ago.

The fireplace set with a gorgeous real marble base is complete (as confirmed by the artist) & includes a coal shovel, an amazing pair of small lady's leg tongs, & a long pair of tongs which are made so skillfully as to bend in to the point of holding a coal but will not go any further than the normal position, just like a real pair. The brass handles & acorn-topped andirons are all beautifully hand turned on a lathe by the artist.

Most DH brass items are cast/molded. The fender is all hand cut & has the most intricate & beautiful design. The moldings on the top & bottom of the fender are extremely detailed. Overall, just a fabulous, rare set by a master miniaturist. The fender is signed Wm.

The andirons are signed, one "WMR 94", the other simply "R". The fireplace set base says "WRR 94" & the small lady's leg tongs are marked with an "R" stamp The tool set measures 2 & 13/16 tall. The andirons are 1 & 9/16 tall. The fender is 4 & 3/8" long X 3/4" tall X 5/16 deep.

Robertson (Bill Robertson) has been building exquisite miniatures for almost 40 years in Kansas City, and has been instrumental in the design of several museum installations involving miniatures. Bill's artistic talents go way beyond the construction of miniature rooms.

Even as a small child, Bill built things including models of planes, trains, cars and ships. By 15 he was working in a hardware store and from that to jobs assembling everything from electronics to race cars. Today his work is recognized by museums, including the Smithsonian and the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC, and incorporated into their programs and exhibits.

Creating miniatures led to working on the design of miniature museums in Kansas City, Missouri; Dallas, Texas; Naples, Florida and Maysville, Kentucky. In addition he has taught his craft to many others around the world. His furniture, tool boxes, and mechanical instruments reflect his interest in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century American, English, Dutch, and French decorative arts. Robertson enjoys the challenge of making complex, functioning pieces that require hours of historical research and specially made tools.

His work is among the most sought after of all miniature artisans present or past. CONDITION- Excellent vintage condition, all present, no issues, gorgeous.
